Types  of Nouns

There are 5 types of Nouns.

1. Proper Noun

2. Common Noun

3. Abstract  Noun

4. Material Noun

5. Collective Noun

Proper noun 
Proper noun is a noun that references a specific person, place, animal, thing or idea. 
Proper noun always starts with a capital letter.

For example -
Radha, Shyam, Santosh, Arvind, Geeta, Sita, Abhimanyu, Asnawar, Jhalawar, Kota, Jaipur, Delhi , Ratan , May , Monday , England , Udaipur  etc.

Common noun 

A common noun is a generic name for a person, place or a thing that belongs to a particular  class or a group.

For Example -
cow , city , village , school , hospital , station , bus stand , doll , fan , boy , girl, country, bus etc.


Abstract noun 
Abstract noun is a noun that refers to a feeling, state of a mind something that cannot be seen but only  felt.

For Example - 
Honesty , Bravery , Sadness , Happiness , Anger , Pride , truth  , beauty etc.

Material noun 
Material noun is a noun that refers to the names of materials or substances out of which things are made.

For Example -
Iron, Gold, Silver , Wood , Paper , iron , copper ,  bus , milk  etc.

Collective Noun
Collective Noun refers to name of a group or collection of many taken together.

For Example - 
Army , fleet , herd , bunch , class , crowd , staff  etc.

There is another way of classification where we can classify as - 

Countable nouns -   village, chair ,child , City , book , school , car , pencil , aeroplane , class 

Uncountable noun -  milk ,   pain , truth  , beauty ,  Sky ,  water , wood , pleasure , hunger , happiness
